"...Gillings’ skill and agility on the harmonica is stellar throughout.” Dave Drury - Blues Matters Magazine.
“Start Over Again is a big-sounding slab of raw Blues-Rock.” Norman Darwen - Blues In Britain Magazine."
Above are just a couple of the always positive reviews from people far more 'in the know' than me, but we definitely agree on our admiration of this Blues harmonica player who has grown in both stature and noteriety over the last few years! For me it's simply that I'm a fan. His music is a joy to listen to and every song brings a smile to my face. It can be either acoustic and raw, funny or sad, full blown ass kickin' Blues or a slow, long draw on his harp, either way I'm hooked. He has a future ahead that will be huge I'm sure with festivals, venues and CD sales nothing more than a starting platform for bigger things ahead.
If you are one of those that thinks Harmonica Blues music isn't your thing, then think again and listen to his music, there are tracks on the Invisible Prison album that will blow you away and then there are cleverly pieced together songs from his heart and his mind on You Don't Even Know that will simply leave you begging for more.
Paul isn't new to this, his past and his callibre with the harmonica is there for all to see and his passion with both the instrument and the music is obvious to anyone with half an ear. I've had the pleasure of meeting & interviewing the man and every time laughter follows. He is one of those genuine musicians that leave it all on the field.
